About us

Perisai diri Silat Sunshine Coast is a restrictive entry school of Indonesian Martial arts. It has two student intakes per year of up to 10 people per intake. The intakes occurs in the months of January and July. Perisai diri Silat Sunshine Coast is not commercially focused, it is completely dedicated to the quality of technical rational of the art not the quantity of the participants training in it. This reflects in the fact that Perisai diri Silat Sunshine Coast has produced many former and current world Champions within the art of Perisai diri Silat.

Kids Silat

Both children and adult classes are offered in the Sunshine Coast area. The minimum entry age for the children’s class is 8 years of age. The whole idea behind the children’s training is not to supply a creche’ or a “drop-off” center for parents but a venue where all children, irrespective of abilities, can maximize their capacities, explore the world of Silat Perisai Diri, attain a realistic self defense and grow as people.

Prior to commencement of a child training they are given a talk on the expectations from the training center and, along with the parents, given an overview on what is expected of them as students. Usually at this point most children no longer want to begin training and those that do are determined to try and achieve some skill and are fully aware of why they are there.
